In 2000 – A contract is signed between Local 289 and Coach USA Center (became First Arena in Sept. 2003) that states it is the responsibility of Local 289 to provide the necessary professional people to work backstage in the execution of Load INS, Performances, and Load OUTS.
In 2005 – Local 272 Cortland, NY transfers theirs members to and centralizes with Local 289 of Elmira, NY
In 2008 - Local 289 was heavily involved in the Clemens Center second phase of renovation that results in adding 15 feet to the back wall and the installation of new counter weight single and double purchase system. For the start of a brand new look and a brand new season, Local 289 and the Clemens Center is chosen as the premier opening for the newly designed "Ain't Misbehavin" Broadway Tour starring Rueben Studdard.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkqxa2mmGJg.
In 2011 - Local 289 and the Clemens Center is chosen once again as the premier opening for the newly designed North American premier performance of the sparkling new production of The World’s Greatest Musical; "My Fair Lady!"
In 2011 - Local 821 TBSE of WETM-TV merges with Local 289 to become the first local of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts of the United States, Its Territories and Canada to have TWO departments one of which is the stage designation of "M" (Mixed) Dept. and that of Television Broadcasting Studio Employees "TBSE" Dept.
In 2017 – A decertification petition was approved by the IA in relation to all TBSE employees of Nexstar in Elmira NY. Once again IATSE Local 289 returns to classification of Stagecraft “M” Department and has removed it’s TBSE designation. A new Constitution is written and accepted by the IA.
In 2018 – IATSE Local 289 and the Clemens Center tackles and unprecedented three consecutive tech shows where-by the Broadway Companies start their world-wide tours.
